The Weekender FAQs:
Can non-riding companions come along?
Yes, absolutely. However we’d need to know this well in advance to make the necessary arrangements. Please contact us to discuss.
How hard is it? Am I fit enough? Is it too easy?
We are reasonably fit middle-aged male riders with quite a few years of riding under our belts. We would classify ourselves as ‘athletic’. However, we don’t race and we don't possess the fitness levels of pro-athletes. You won’t need to either.
The routes are prepared well in advance, but we will of course consider adjusting it, plus the pace, based on the ability of the group. We’d generally position the challenge in the middle of a 5-point scale, where 1 is easy and 5 is demanding.
Saying that, we will not attempt to hold you back if you are faster, but as in any good group ride, re-assembly takes place at the top of the hill. It’s therefore a good idea to know the daily route in advance, and use (if possible) the .tcx supplied by CyprusRoadie for each day of riding (a .tcx is a type of file read by cycling computers).
What’s the spoken language at the tours?
We’re a mixture of Greek and English native speakers. On and off the road we generally speak English.
How do I know that my place is confirmed?
The first step is to pay the deposit. After this we will invoice you via email for the balance. This must be paid at least 45 days before the Weekender begins. Please consult our Terms & Conditions for further details.
Cancellations can occur, and if we do cancel your trip for any reason we will do our utmost to re-schedule at another convenient date. Please consult our Terms & Conditions document for our cancellation policy.
What standard should I expect from the accommodation?
Our accommodation partners are vastly experienced in the needs of cyclists (and other athletes), and regularly host amateur and professional road bike and MTB teams. Rest assured that we’ve gone to great lengths to make sure that all your needs are fulfilled. For more details on accommodation see our partner’s website.
Can I rent a bike?
We’d strongly recommend that you take part in the Weekender using your own bike, for comfort, confidence and safety riding on unfamiliar roads. If that is not possible we can offer bike hire through a third party. Please let us know well in advance so we can ensure the correct size bike is available. If you are renting a bike you need to remember to bring your helmet, and optionally (but preferably) your own pedals and saddle.
Can CyprusRoadie help out with travel arrangements?
Yes – we can recommend airlines and the best flight times to get you to and from your home country to Cyprus, as well as hotels should you want to arrive before or stay after the end of the tour.
